Recently, the company Neutral® as a whole has also been B Corp certified. And not just certified, but with the highest score for clothing in the entire EU!
What is B Corp certification?
B Corp (short for Benefit Corporation) is a certification for companies that want to make a positive impact on the world alongside profit. Think of fair working conditions, sustainability, and social commitment.
The difference with traditional companies lies at the core:
while many companies are primarily focused on profit, B Corp companies try to find a balance between profit, people, and planet. It’s not the profit, but the way of working and the impact on the world that is most important.
How does a company become a B Corp?
Getting B Corp certification isn’t just a simple sticker you paste on your website. Companies must go through an extensive assessment, where they are evaluated on things like:
- Environmental impact (such as CO₂ emissions and raw materials)
- Employee policy (wages, workload, well-being)
- Transparency and governance
- Impact on society
- Customer responsibility
Only companies that score high enough receive the certification. And it’s temporary — every few years they must demonstrate again that they still meet the requirements.
Why does B Corp exist?
The idea behind B Corp is quite simple: Companies have a huge influence on the world, so why wouldn’t they use that influence to do something good?
In a time when climate change, inequality, and the depletion of raw materials are becoming increasingly significant problems, the pressure on companies to take responsibility is growing. B Corp tries to provide structure for that.
